Canaima & Angel Falls
Itinerary
Day 1: Puerto Ordaz
Depart on the first flight to Puerto Ordaz with either Aeropostal or Aserca. Arrive in Puerto Ordaz and our representative will assist with the transfer to a small aircraft for the flight to Canaima. After 1 1/2 hours flying over some of the most spectacular landscape, we will land in Canaima. Transfer to camp. There will be time to walk around this beautiful place before lunch. At 2:30 p.m. visit the Canaima Lagoon, Sapo and Sapito falls, and see Ucaima, Golondrina, Wadaima and Hacha Falls. You will get wet so be prepared and wear a bathing suit. Return to camp towards the end of the day for dinner and a well deserved rest. Overnight in this simple, but comfortable camp with beds, fans and private bath.
Day 2: Ucaima Port
After breakfast transfer by jeep to Ucaima Port. Navigate on the river for about 20 minutes then walk across the savanna (25 minutes) while the dugout canoe crosses the Mayupa Rapids. Continue navigating approximately 3 hours (depending on the water level) to Isla Ratón. After lunch and a rest, walk (1 hour each way) to the base of Auyan-Tepuy and to a lookout area where you can see the majestic Angel Falls, the highest in the world at 3,215 feet (980 meters), known to the local Pemon Indians as Kerepakupai–Meru. Return to the rustic camp on Ratoncito Island. Sleep in hammocks with mosquito nets.
Day 3: Departure
After breakfast return to Canaima airport. Fly back to Puerto Ordaz in a small aircraft. From Puerto Ordaz board the commercial jet bound for Caracas.
