Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival in Guyana and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 & 3: Sloth Island Resort & Mazaruni River Tour
Sloth Island nature Resort is situated on a 160 ares of pristine rainforest in the Essequibo River. A wide array of birds and wildlife make Sloth Island Nature Resort an ideal destination for birders and holiday makers of all levels. The recent spotting of the Harpy Eagle has catapulted Sloth Island onto the international bird watching calendar. From the Island one can access exciting excursions to the Amerindian village of falmouth, the town of Bartica, Fort Kykoveral (oldest Dutch Fort in Guyana), Baracara Waterfalls, and the rapids of Marshall Falls, among others. Choose from: bird watching, nature walks, wildlife viewing, swimming, canoeing, fishing or just relaxing in a hammock in the shade of the trees.
Day 3: Rainforest Experience & Kaieteur Falls
Fly to the famous Kaieteur Falls and spend two hours viewing this natural wonder from different vantage points. Fly to Annai and head to Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve, a one-million acre reserve and center for international forest conservation, research and development.
Day 4: Fly to Kaieteur & Iwokrama
Visit the only Canopy Walkway in the Guiana Shield, a new state-of-the-art facility that winds 114 feet (35 meters) through the treetops. Spend the night and experience the unspoilt, primeval jungle.
Day 5: Karanambu Ranch
Commence your safari driving from Iwokrama to Karanambu ranch. Meet your host, Diane McTurk. who is famous for her work with rehabilitating orphaned giant otters to the wild. Here you will have a chance to see many different species of birds and animals.
Day 6: Georgetown, Guyana
Fly to Georgetown and transfer to In the afternoon you will be taken on a city tour of Georgetown.
Day 7: Flight to Suriname/French Guiana
Fly to Suriname and transfer overland to Kourou.
Day 8: Devil's Islands
Breakfast at the hotel and then take a ferryboat for a full-day visit to Devil's Island (only on Royal Island). The atmospheric ruins are the islands' main attraction, but their abundant wildlife—including macaws, agoutis and sea turtles—provide another fine reason to visit. Lunch in the Auberge des Iles Royale. Return to Kourou's hotel.
Day 9: Kourou Space Centrer
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit to the Arianne Space Centre. Tour the main installations, followed by a guided visit of the museum. Transfer to Paramaribo.
Day 10: Departure
Transfer to airport for departure.
